Round 3
New migrant Norman Longjas continued his winning ways when he defeated the former under 1900 and top board player Noel Mangrobang in 40 moves of Sicilian Defense. Noel blundered a move in what could eventually wrapped up the game in his favour. However, luck was still on Norman's side. he now leads with 3 points in as many games. Benny Galvez grabs second place with a convincing win against Angelito Camer. Defending champion Tony Bouchayaa bounced back into contention after defeating the very dangerous Leonardo Tenorio in 41 moves of Nimzo Indian Defense.

Round 4
Newcomer Norman Longjas keeps his 1point lead by defeating Robert Ambalong in 33 moves of Kings Indian Defense in round 4. Benny Galvez remains second after posting and an easy victory over Peter Cassettari . Noel Mangrobang climbs to third place when he handed the off form Leo Tenorio his 3rd successive defeat in the tournament in their Ruy Lopez game. While the match between Angelito Camer and Tony Bouchaaya was postponed at the request of the former.

Round 5
Norman Longjas still undefeated but had to scramble for a tough draw with bottom placer Leonardo Tenorio. In their opening moves of the Siclian game, both players swapped for an early exhange of pieces. Then In the middle game Leoanardo mirrored Norman's moves several times until again both traded their queen and rook. Nearing the end game Leonardo gained some positional advantage but could not convert into victory.

Robert Ambalong created another stir as he upset the second seeded Benny Galvez. Fresh from his victory against Ayvazyan(2241) in the recent Rooty Hill Open, Though Benny was ahead after exchanged of pieces in the middle game, Robert's passed pawns on both a and h file proved to be the deciding factor in the end game.

In the other matches defending champIon Tony Bouchaaya settled for a draw with Peter Cassettari. While Noel Magrobang scored a no-sweat victory as Angelito Camer has withdrawn from the tournament.

All the points that Angelito has garnered were taken away and awarded 1 point each to all of his opponents. With every player getting extra point , Norman now up his tally to 5.5. points. Only Noel Mangrobang has the chance to catch up with him provided that he wins in last 2 rounds and Norman loses in the last round.

Round 6
Noel Mangrobang has reduced the lead of Norman Longjas to 1point by demolishing Peter Cassettari in their match last night. Noel's last round encounter will be tough one against second seeded Benny Galvez. Norman had a bye last night and will play Peter in the last round. He just have to draw his last game to wrap up the title. Defending champion Tony Bouchaaya has moved to third by downing Benny Galvez.

If Norman finishes top, he is going to set two records. 1.The first unrated player to win in top Division and 2. The first player to win on first attempt. Is Norman going to create history? Well, let's wait for the last round results.

Interestingly, in the battle of tailenders, Robert Ambalong outplayed Leonardo Tenorio in their Nimzon Indian game. Leonardo opted for an early brawl and paid dearly as he committed one error after another and Robert's major pieces have swarmed Leo's king. The attacked was unstoppable. Robert still have the chance to tie for second if the beats Tony in the last round.

Round 7
Norman Longjas won his final game last night against Peter Cassettari, thus became the first unrated player in Club’s history to win the Rooty Hill Chess Club Championship 2007. His total tally of 6.5 points equaled Tony Bouchaaya’s output last year which by far stands as the highest ever in Club’s history. His total winning streak dating back from the Rooty Hill Open (started round 5) to the Club Championship (up to round 4) stands at 10 is also now a Club record. His momentum was only halted in the 5th round by agreeing to a hard fought draw with Leonardo Tenorio. After that draw, he resumed again his winning habits. Certainly he is the big discovery of the year and a player to beat in all coming tournaments. Dethroned 2006 champion Tony Buchaaya outplayed Robert Ambalong to share a tie for 2nd place with Noel Mangrobang.

 8Danilo Esguerra 1688 1.0 0.5 0.5 1.0 1.0 0.0 0.5    4.5 4th

Round 3
The suddenly in form Frank Barisic takes the lead 3 with points after disposing of John Yao in another exciting game. Levi Descallar and Danilo Esquerra are chasing closely with 2.5 points each. Levi scrumbled for time and again made a houdini act by defeating Yama Mamoodi. While Danilo drew with Hans Muller in a marathon rook and pawn ending.

Round 4
Danilo Esguerra tasted his first defeat at the hands of the rejuvenated and still undefeated Frank Barisic. Frank is leading with 4 points out of 4 rounds. Levi Descallar grabs solo second with 3.5 points after demolishing John Yao in another marathon endgame. After 3 consecutive draws, Hans Muller finally registed his first win by outplaying the currently bottom place and scoreless Anjum Munir. He is now tied for 3rd place with Danilo Esguerra. Yama Mamoodi is finally on the board with a win by downing the unpredictable Ron Kite.

Round 5
Frank Barisic still leads as he escaped with a draw against Levi Descallar. When the play was stopped Frank had bishop left while Levi had a pawn and bishop.

Levi is now solo second with Hans Muller inching his way to third place with an easy victory over Yama Mamoodi. In the other games Danilo Esguerra drew with Munir Anjum and same result also between Ron Kite vs. John Yao.

Round 6
Frank Barisic still the leader as he managed to draw his sixth round game with Ron Kite. Moving to =2nd with Levi Decallar is Hans Muller who crushed John Yao. Levi Descallar ended his game against Danilo Esguerra in a marathon draw. The longest ever in the tournament.

Is the suddenly rejuvenated Frank Barisic going to be crowned king of Division 2? The title will be decided in the last round as leaders plays each other. Frank meets Hans and Levi plays Ron. The final result as who place 1st and 2nd depends on these matches. It will be very interesting. Danilo Esguerra still in the running for a tie in 2nd place provided he wins his last round match with Yama Mamoodi and pray that Hans and Levi loses their games.

Round 7
Hans Muller playing black upstaged Frank Barisic to sneak to equal 1st. Frank led all the way and just needs a draw to claim the title. But Hans had other ideas; as he scalped him in a tactical game. Sharing the title with Hans is Levi Descallar who also sneaked through when he outclassed Ron Kite in another very long game. Like Hans, Levi’s top class players which I reckon are both too good in this division.

Round 3
Henry Rara, Stevan Jovanovic & Muhamed Buza are currently tied for first place with 2 points each. This division is probing to be tough as other players might take or join the leaders in next round results.

Round 4
It's still a 3 horse race for the top place as the top 3 seeds Henry Rara, Stevan Jovanovic & Mohamed Buza registered wins against Bill Herreros, David Evans & Peter Barreca respectively. Behind closely is Allan Butler who finished off Josh Lee in the longest game of the night. It's very hard to predict who is going to place first at end of the tournament. But it's now obvious, and I can tell you that one of these four will be crowned champion in this division.

Round 5
Stevan Jovanovic is now the outright leader with 4.5 points following Peter Barreca's no show. As this develop Peter also withdrawn from the contest. Like in Camer's case, points were also taken off from him and all of his opponents receives 1point each.

Henry Rara drops 2nd and Muhamed Buza is 3rd. Allan Butler outplayed David Evans to keep him in touch with the leaders and running 4th.

Round 6
Henry Rara is now the solo leader as he disposed off Josh Lee in a very quick game. Could this be Henry's first title in so many tournaments? Remains to be seen as he needs to beat the very tough David Evans in the last round. Only Stevan Jovanovic has the chance to tie or even overtake Henry, but in doing so he should get past Alan Butler who is still in contention for 2nd place along with Muhamed Buza and David Evans.

Round 7
Stevan Jovanovic squeezed past Allan Butler to claim the division 3 title. Henry Rara who took the lead at the end of sixth round finished 2nd place as he was upset by unpredictable David Evans.

Round 3 Veteran Rolando Gonzales is joined by newcomer Kenan Bircan with 2.5 points a piece. They're followed closely with 2 points by David Van Look, Ken MacGillivray and another newcomer David MacDonald.

Round 4
Unranked Keenan Bircan continues to shine in this division as he let Rolando Gonzales tasted his first defeat. He's now the solo leader with 3.5 points. Rolando drops to second with 2.5 points and now joined by Ken Macgillivray, David Van Look and another unrated David MacDonald. Eddie Quesada and Peter Watts are still very much in the running with 2.0 points each. Daniel Bell and Edis Franca are running eigth & ninth place . While another unrated Jerimah Lee is yet to register a score.

Round 5
Round four leader Keenan Bircan was beaten by David Van Look. David now joins Keenan as well as Ken Macgillivray and David Mcdonald for a tie in the 1st place with 3.5 points each. Ken defeated Peter Watts and David Macdonald let Rolando Gonzales slips further down in the standing. Eddie Quesada is not far behind with 3.points as he outwitted Jerimah Lee.

Round 6
David Van Look, Kenan Bircan and Ken Mcgillivray prevailed over their respective opponents last night as the trio are still locked in tie for first place. It's going to be a toss coin for Ken and Kenan as they play each other in the last round while David gets an easier assignment against Peter Watts. Eddie Quesada have a very slim chance of landing second place.

Round 7
In the battle of division 4 leaders, Ken Macgillivray finally emerged as champion as he defeated Kenan Bircan, While another sixth round co-leader David Van Look succumbed to Peter Watts in one of the biggest upset of the night. Eddie Quesada took 2nd place by defeating Daniel Bell. An exciting finish where 6 players finished within one point.
