Angelito Camer Dominates Rooty Hill Weekend Rapid
Angelito Camer, a Filipino based in Canterbery in Sydney, Australia show his skills in the 64 square board after topping the Weekender Rapid Chess Tournament was held at the RSL Club in Rooty Hill, New South Wales (NSW), Australia last Saturday (28/05/2007).
Camer, former top player of Parañaque City and bus operator in Sydney finished with 6.0 points, on account of 5 wins, 2 draws in seven outings.
Camer is schedule to arrive in the country next month to participate some local tournament as well to be one of the God Father "Ninong" when Anda, Pangasinan top non-master player Verth Alora will exchange his vows.
In the seventh and final round, Camer was forced in a fighting draw over compatriot Francis Picartto enroute the title.
In other marquee matches, Noel Mangrobang beat Rolando Gonzales while Davao City pride Levi Descallar trounced Rick Carballo.
Mangrobang settled for second with 5.0 points while Descallar and Picart tallying identical 4.5 points apiece for the third and fourth place finisher.
Last week, Benny Galvez, a native San Fernando City, La Union adjudge over-all champion in this chessfest with amazing 8.5/9.
Three weeks ago, national masters Homer Cunanan and Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. shared top honors with 5.5/6.
