Congratulations to FM Brian Jones on winning the Club Rapid Championship for 2005, conceding only half a point from the six games. Paul Laurance and Joe Ymalay tied for second on five points just half a point ahead of George Smit who had an outstanding tournament to finish fourth.
Tony Bouchaaya's score looks low but he was unable to play on the first night—his three wins were from three games.
Performing above their ratings were Shane Burgess (1494) and Frank Kresinger (1489) on 4 points, as well as Peter Watts (1171) who – fresh from winning the individual team prize in the WSCP – scored 3.
Vince Zalac and Michael Jansen, as yet unrated, both finished on 2.5. Michael could easily have made it 3.5 – he outplayed me in Round 5 but overlooked a double attack, letting me back into the game.
